Milan - December 14th, 2016 - Imi Fondi Chiusi SGR, on behalf of Fondo Atlante Private Equity, has acquired a majority stake in Trasporti Romagna Spa, with a co-investment from Unigrains. Transprti Romagna Spa is an Italian leader in transport services and logistics management specialized in agri-food and food retailers.
The acquisition takes place in the context of a generational transition, in which Simone Romagna, the third generation of the Romagna family, continues to lead the company as CEO and retains a significant stake.
Trasporti Romagna, along with its subsidiary Systema, saw sales of roughly €M 110 in 2015 with strong growth of over 20% per year since 2011, notably thanks to the progressive entry into the third party warehouse management segment and geographic expansion across Italy.
The investment will support Trasporti Romagna's continued growth ambition, both organically and through targeted acquisitions. The operational leadership of the company remains in the hands of Simone Romagna and a suitably strengthened management team in line with the company's ongoing development will support him.
The Equity Sponsors have been advised by Gitti & Partners (legal advisor), by Riccardi Salom Tedeschi (deal structuring), da Davide Balboni (Antitrust issues), da Ernst & Young (financial advisor) da Pirola & Associati (tax advisor).
